  CLUBHOUSE KPR WHO'S WHO

Kew Park Rangers Jack Petchey Award Scheme

HOW IT WORKS

Recipients do not have to be the best at sport, work or anything else, but they must have contributed to the club or community in a significant way. Equally, Achievement Award Winners can be recognised for personal developments and positive personality traits.

Achievement Award Winners must be aged between 11 and 25 years.

The Club needs to award 9 awards per year with each award being worth £200 plus £1000 Leader award.

At the beginning of every new month Squad Managers will fill in the internal nomination form (see attachment) with the squads nomination and the form sent by e-mail it to J-F.

The Award committee will decide who that month’s winner is. Monthly nominees (if not selected) will be kept and moved to the following month’s award.

MONTHLY PRESENTATION

Present the certificate to the winner in front of their peers before the end of the month.

The winner will decide how to spend the money

A photo must be taken of the presentation. The photo will then be put on the Jack Petchey of the KPR website with the reason for the nomination.

Note: Squad Managers will need to pick up the framed certificate and grant cheque from J-F before presentation.

ANNUAL PRESENTATION

Once a year, a medallion presentation will be organised for all 12 monthly winners. Jack Petchey Foundation staff will be invited to make the presentation at the KPR Award BBQ.

WISH LIST

Award winners, squads and the club should decide how the money will be spent. Money cannot be spent on existing standard running costs.

Leader Award 2009 Nominated by J-F Burford and Rob Sheldon

Aston Ventour

Aston Ventour started coaching at KPR in 2006/2007. He had been at the Staines Football Academy as a player and was in his final year at Kingston College, where he passed his NVQ level 2 coaching Badge.

As a young 18 year old player Aston came to the club with no real coaching experience. He took over coaching a group of young players who felt deflated, disillusioned and frustrated at losing every week.

With his knowledge and love of the game, Aston quickly installed a new sense of fun, enthusiasm and a long lost sense of self belief back to the boys. They were now enjoying themselves again and even though they were not picking up many points from playing matches, they were picking up valuable coaching and life enhancing pointers from Aston during training.

The following season Aston kept coaching the same group of players and instilled a belief in them that bonded the players into a unified squad and for the first time they started to win more games then they lost.

Aston instilled a sense of not winning at all cost above learning and development of individual skills. A sense that if they played and conducted themselves in the right way, it did not matter whether they won or lost as long as they gave their best and if they did that, then no matter what the outcome of the game they would be winners.

This season the same squad of players’ have reaped the benefit from Aston’s philosophy, coaching and man management skills by finishing 3rd in their league.

His leadership skills have developed over the last 3 years with the club and Aston has grown to be a true motivator and mentor to all children inside and outside of the club. Local kids now and respect him, not only as a coach; but also as a person they can trust and call upon in a moment of need.

It is for all of these reasons and more that Kew Park Rangers Football Club nominate Aston Ventour for a Jack Petchey Leader Award.

June 2009
Basil Al-Anil Nominated by Tim Pitt

Basil never moans or argues whether at training or during a game. He just gets on with being a highly reliable player. This means that sometimes when the praise is being handed out he is overlooked and his name does not come up. Would be surprised to receive this award which is why it makes it even more powerful.

May 2009
Connor Prince Nominated by J-F Burford

Connor believes that he is responsible for the performance of the whole team. He puts un-needed pressure on himself to perform at the highest level at all times, which means that he sometimes he does not recognise he owns self worth as a young person and not just a player.

April 2009
Ewan Sheldon Nominated by Aston Ventour

I would like to nominate Ewan Sheldon for a number of reasons with this being triggered by him attaining 1oo goals for the club this week. Ewan was the founder player for the club, a position that he has always taken seriously. He has taken his level 1 coaching badge and trains the under 12s every Saturday. In his spare time , he refs for the club

March 2009
Jacob Klasse Nominated by Rob Sheldon

Jacob has been injured for much of the season and developed with his father a way of recording all the key incidents during each match. This is a very detailed and complex report sheet. He turned up every week during his injury – home and away – to help record everything that took place and to support his team-mates. This was incredibly spirited of him as it was a very long, wet, cold winter. He then turns the information into a match report each week for all the players which they really look forward to. It has been a very good way of enhancing team spirit and everyone looks for their name in print. Once Jacob and his father have finished testing out their reporting system on the under 16 Rangers, it is very likely that the club will introduce it across the club as a whole.

February 2009
U12 player Toby receives February 09 Jack Petchey award

Toby has been with us since reception, when he arrived he was tall, thin, quiet and shy. Over the years he has been training and playing with us he has developed in many ways.

He is still tall and thin, still quiet but a lot less shy, on the pitch he is moving on from a formidable left defender to an extremely able midfielder with a fabulous turn of speed.

His abilities and skill make a very adaptable player and he will play anywhere effectively. But the most pleasing part of his maturing attitude is his ability to take responsibility. He has captained the U12s on numerous occasions, and is always the first to volunteer especially if the opposition looks tough.

His good nature and intelligent approach to training and playing make him a real pleasure to coach, but this doesn’t detract from his fierce determination and energy on the pitch, which has inspired and lifted the rest of the team on many occasions.

January 2009
Andy Becker, U12 Manager, awards Alex Szechenyi-Smythe award for January 2009

After naturally graduating from the U12 Colts last season, Alex now is a regular for the U12 Rangers team. He has quickly established himself as an invaluable member of the squad.

His enthusiasm and dedication is the model for all our players. He is always on time, always pays attention, works hard and well and is always looking to improve his skills. He trains on Saturdays, plays on Sundays, and even turns out for the U12 Friday night 5-a-side league team! His attitude at matches is exemplary, he is determined and fearless, and never complains when starting as a substitute or when being rested. Alex has chosen to spend his prize on KPR training tops for the squad

December 2008
Alex Bukaka receives the Jack Petchey award for December 2008 from U16 Colts Manager Tim Pitt

Alex, AKA Koli to his friends and team, is a tall and powerful man, but that power as a player hides a person who is kind, respectful and full of fun. On the pitch Koli is a leader, a leader who is calm, who gives his all for 90 minutes. During training, Koli is attentive and listens to his coaches, always trying to improve his knowledge and develop his skills and all round game. He always arrives with a smile and always leaves with a smile on his face, no matter how wet, cold or hard the training session has been. Koli is a true gentle giant of a man, who deserves much respect and gets it back. Koli will achieve much in his life and deserves great success

November 2008
U13 Coach Terry Nolan awards James Jago the Jack Petchey award for November 2008

James has been a member of KPR since the Under 6 age group, a total of seven years. He has always been a regular attendee at training and shows a great willingness to learn and to develop his football. He is almost always available for matches and has played in every position for the team without complaint and with great enthusiasm. He is a great motivator of the other boys and gives encouragement rather than criticism after mistakes.

James ha great respect for his coaches and for referees and is always quick to accept decisions and offer his thanks at the end of games. His coaches frequently use his positive attitude as an example of a role model for other boys .His effort on the field is always 100% and he gives his best for the team at all times.

October 2008
Tim Pitt, U16 Colts Manager, awards Vi Minh Mai for Jack Petchey Oct 08 award

Vi maybe the smallest player in the squad, but has a big personality. He’s always smiling and laughing no matter how the match goes and always has a quick witted reply for any occasion. Vi gives his all at all times and never stops till the last whistle.

September 2008
Sept 08 Jack Petchey award goes to KPR’s longest serving player, Edward Taylor

Having been part of KPR since 1999, Ed has remained loyal to the club despite his squad disbanding and reforming twice. He is always motivated and happy to motivate his team mates with his non flinching enthusiasm for the game, either during training or in a match.

August 2008
Sarah Adarkwa awarded Jack Petchey award for August 08

Despite living outside the immediate area of the club, Sarah perseveres with public transport to make the majority of training sessions and matches. This dedication despite obvious challenges adds to the pleasure in having her as part of the squad. Award nominated by Chris Rudd, U18 girls Manager

July 2008
Clare Simpson, U14 Rangers Manager nominates Jonah Duncan for the July 08 Jack Petchey award

This award was given in recognition of Jonah’s continual support of the team on match days. His attitude, even when he has remained on the bench for the duration of the match, is always exemplary.

June 2008
KPR Chairman and U15 Colts gaffer presents the June 08 Jack Petchey award to Patrick Cox

Patrick has been a part of KPR 6 years and though he is not in the squad this season, he always attends training and is always enthusiastic towards the different sessions that are taught. Patrick comes to support the team as a spectator, whether home or away and is always on hand to lend a kind word to his team-mates. He is always happy and quick with a joke to help liven up situations. Patrick would be a good representative of a Jack Patchy Award and deserves to be recognized. Patrick is planning to use his award to fund training wear for his team mates

May 2008
Jack Petchey award given to Nico Docherty by referee coordinator Rob Sheldon

Nico has shown tremendous dedication in his first full season as a young trainee referee in being available for most weekends. His total of refereeing 20 matches in the season was the highest of any of the 20 referees used by KPR. Nico plans to use his award to assist young people who wish to train to be referees but cannot afford it

April 2008
U14 Girls squad Manager, Mike Thexton presents the April 08 Jack Petchey to winner Florence Lloyd-Hughes

Florrie was nominated for the award to recognize her recent achievement in qualifying as a referee. The U14 girls squad are hoping the club don’t want to use her newly gained skills too frequently as she is a vital part of their team though all agreed she deserved the recognition for her hard work and effort in qualifying. No decision has been taken on what the £300 will be spent on yet, watch this space for details.

March 2008
March 08 winner Joe Gash (right) receives his award and cheque from Alex Shortt, KPR U15 Juniors captain

Joe Gash was nominated and received the March Jack Petchey award for his continued commitment to the U15 Juniors squad. As well as ensuring his coach knows when we will be at training Joe always takes an active part with plenty of commitment and effort. He also turns up to support his team mates for home matches despite not being in the squad himself. Joe has chosen to treat his squad to an end of season meal, venue and date to be arranged.

“Sean was nominated for the Jack Petchey award by his squad manager Tim Pitt who said “Sean trains with the U15 Colts and is always an enthusiastic participant. His enthusiasm and cheery personality helps keep the training sessions fun, especially on a cold night. Or maybe it’s that he keeps us all entertained with his open goal misses, either was Sean deserves our nomination for this award.” Sean has chosen to spend his £300 prize on KPR training tops with each player’s initials for the whole squad”
